MATCH REPORT - Cheshunt - 14/10/25
Billericay Town 1 (Oudnie-Morgan 57) Cheshunt 1 (Wilson-Braithwaite 81)
Rio Oudnie-Morgan’s second goal in three games was cancelled out by a late Dequane Wilson-Braithwaite strike as Cheshunt came from behind to earn a point at New Lodge.
The Blues made the brighter start and registered the first effort of the evening as Jack Evans’ long-range strike failed to trouble visiting goalkeeper Preston Edwards. The Ambers gradually grew into the contest and created the best opening of the half on 22 minutes, as Alex Gibson-Hammond found space in the box and forced Sam Donkin into a sharp stop.
The hosts responded with a series of set pieces and nearly broke the deadlock when Oudnie-Morgan flashed a shot just over eight minutes before the interval, but the sides went in goalless at half-time.
‘Ricay came out with intent after the restart, seeing two penalty appeals waved away by referee Craig Wood before Max Jolliffe’s header tested the hands of Edwards. The pressure finally told 11 minutes into the half when Elliot Long’s teasing cross found Oudnie-Morgan at the far post, and the Ipswich loanee made no mistake in picking out the bottom corner.
Oudnie-Morgan almost doubled the advantage 15 minutes later after linking up with Long again but lifted his effort over the bar with the goal gaping. And the miss would prove costly, as with nine minutes remaining, a rare Cheshunt attack saw Wilson-Braithwaite arrive unmarked at the far post to fire across Donkin and level the scores.
The game opened up in the closing stages, and both sides struck the woodwork in pursuit of a winner. Substitute Alfie Cerulli’s deflected cross found Liam Nash, who hit the post from point-blank range, before Reon Smith-Kouassi rattled the frame for the visitors deep into stoppage time ensuring the points were shared.
