MATCH REPORT - Tilbury - 09/12/25
Billericay Town 5 (Nash 29, 36, Izekor 53, Steward 60, Owen 68) – Tilbury 0
Liam Nash struck twice in the first half to set Billericay Town on course for the Essex Senior Cup semi-finals, rounding off a confident performance that eased them past a spirited but inexperienced Tilbury side at New Lodge. Further goals after the interval from Daniel Izekor, Ben Steward and Tyrese Owen sealed Ricay’s place in the last four and ended a run of three games without victory.
Both teams rotated heavily and the contest began at a lively tempo. Billericay created the first big chance after five minutes when Steward rounded Dion Curtis-Henry but clipped the post with the goal at his mercy. Tilbury responded well, enjoying a bright period that saw captain Daniel Trendall fire over from distance before Maxwell Appauh tested Sam Donkin with a strike low to his left.
The visitors continued to look sharp in possession, but Billericay’s back three held firm and the hosts gradually wrestled control. The breakthrough arrived just before the half hour when Tommy Davis’ long pass picked out Nash, who brought it down superbly and rolled it past Curtis-Henry to open the scoring.
Nash almost doubled the lead moments later with a rising effort, and Izekor passed up a golden chance soon after when he lifted Porter’s cross over from close range. Ricay maintained the pressure and were rewarded again on 36 minutes as Steward clipped a clever pass into Nash, who controlled neatly and finished from inside the box to make it two.
Tilbury rallied before the interval and Tyler Forbes flashed a strike over, but the hosts kept things tight in the closing minutes and went in two goals ahead at the break.
The second half began with another warning from Trendall who drove over the bar, but any hopes of a Dockers fightback faded on 53 minutes. Nash broke clear down the left and squared unselfishly for Izekor, who tapped home his first Billericay goal to extend the advantage.
Despite the game getting away from them, Tilbury kept pushing and struck the woodwork twice in quick succession. Forbes rattled the outside of the post with a powerful drive, and Trendall skimmed the crossbar soon after with Donkin beaten.
Billericay weathered the spell and struck again on the hour, when Izekor’s shot was blocked by Ronnie Winn but the rebound fell kindly to Steward, who guided a composed finish into the bottom corner from twelve yards.
Curtis-Henry prevented further damage with sharp stops from Izekor and a looping Nash effort, but he was beaten for a fifth time on 68 minutes when Davis connected with Nash’s corner, and Owen bundled home his maiden goal for the club.
The remaining stages unfolded at a calmer pace as Ricay kept possession without threatening and Tilbury introduced several U18 players from the bench. The final moment arrived on 90 minutes when Nash delivered a cross that somehow evaded both Tilbury defenders and Izekor at the far post, but it mattered little with the tie long settled.
Billericay now join Aveley, Hashtag United and Great Wakering Rovers in the semi-finals, marking their first appearance at that stage since lifting the trophy in 2022.
