THE AWAY END - Brentwood Town
BRENTWOOD TOWN
Nickname: The Blues
Manager: Keith Rowland
Stadium: The Arena
Capacity: 1,500
It’s derby day
at New Lodge this afternoon as Brentwood Town make the short six-mile journey to
New Lodge. Following promotion last season, our visitors have enjoyed a
remarkable campaign so far, sitting second in the table and continuing to be
one of the division’s surprise packages.
Keith Rowland’s
side have been among the league’s most consistent performers, winning 15 of
their 25 league fixtures while suffering defeat on just six occasions. A run of
three successive victories came to an end in their most recent outing, however,
as they were beaten 4-1 at home by Cray Wanderers.
Away from The
Arena, Brentwood have been particularly strong. They have won seven of their 12
away league matches this season and boast the division’s best away goalscoring
record, having netted 32 times on the road. Their last trip away ended in
emphatic fashion three weeks ago, with a convincing 4-1 victory at Welling
United.
Brentwood
matches have been among the most entertaining in the league, with 99 goals
scored across their 25 fixtures, the highest total of any side. Despite being
the second-highest scorers overall with 56 goals, they have been more
vulnerable defensively, conceding 43 times so far this season.
Daniel Ogunleye
is the main attacking threat, leading the line with 14 league goals, while
Rowland’s squad also includes familiar faces for Ricay supporters – Aron
Pollock, Ade Cole, and Montel Agyemang could all return to New Lodge this
afternoon.
The reverse
fixture in September ended in defeat, as we fell 3-0 in front of a record crowd
at The Arena. The sides last met competitively at New Lodge ten years ago
yesterday, when Teddy Nesbit’s second half goal earned us a point in a 1-1 draw
on 16th January 2016.
