THE AWAY END - Hashtag United
HASHTAG UNITED
Nickname: The Tags
Manager: Jay Devereux
Stadium: Parkside
Capacity: 3,500
The Blues face
their second Essex opponents in succession this afternoon as Hashtag United
make the short trip to New Lodge for our first fixture of 2026. The Tags arrive
in the bottom four after a disappointing first half of the campaign in what is
their third season competing at Step 3.
Hashtag have
found consistency hard to come by this term, recording just five wins from
their opening 22 league games, while already suffering 11 defeats. Despite
being the only side to defeat league leaders Folkestone so far this season, Jay
Devereux’s men have managed just two league victories since the end of
September, a run that has seen them slip into the relegation zone.
Last time out,
the Tags faced landlords Aveley and played out a 2-2 draw despite leading
twice. Away from Parkside, their struggles have been even more evident, as they
are currently winless in seven league matches on the road, with defeats in
their last two away outings against Brentwood and Chichester.
Goals have also
been in short supply, with the Tags among the division’s lowest scorers,
netting just 30 times in 22 league games. That said, the Blues will need to
keep a close eye on Luke May-Parrott, Hashtag’s leading scorer, who has nine
goals in all competitions this season.
This will be
the third meeting between the sides this campaign. The Blues claimed a 3-2
league victory back in August, before Hashtag ran out 4-0 winners against a
much-changed Ricay side in the Velocity Cup in mid-November. The most recent
meeting at New Lodge came in August 2024, when a dramatic 90th-minute winner
from Cain Keller secured all three points for the Blues.
